There are a lot of people who have problems with swallowing their food, they will choke when eating liquid food and solid food at the same time. That’s why I designed a jug that can separate the solid and liquid parts of soup. The jug is microwave-proof and holds about one liter of soup which is enough to quickly warm one can of soup.
The sieve in the front of the jug is made as big as possible to prevent blockages. The sieve is placed at a 15° angle to prevent solid parts of the soup from falling out of the jug when pouring. The plastic part on top of the sieve makes it clear on what side you’re supposed to pour soup in. The sieve can simply be removed through the top of the jug to use it as a normal jar or to swap the sieve for a sieve with different-sized holes. The top and bottom of the jar can be unscrewed for easy cleaning. I installed a silicone ring in the bottom half of the jar, this ring will prevent leaks.
During the process of making the jug, I focused on making the design in a way that it could be injection molded, eliminating the need for post-processing and keeping the production cost low. I also looked into different ways of connecting the parts together as well as getting the jar waterproof.
