Every year more than a billion small plastic bottles are sold in the Netherlands. Currently all plastic bottles are transported in single-use plastic packaging. Since July 1, 2021, small plastic bottles have been introduced in the deposit money system in the Netherlands. Making you pay 15 cents per PET bottle with a volume of up to 1 litre, which you get back when you return the bottle.
I developed a reusable plastic tray for six 500ml plastic bottles. Just like the bottles, you can hand in the tray for deposit money. The tray will completely replace the current disposable plastic packaging. Saving up to 1.6 million kilos of single-use plastic every year. Not only will the tray reduce the single-use plastic it will also make it easier to return your PET bottles to the supermarket. The tray is an easy to make and cheap injection molded product.
