It is proven that people make better decisions when they are in a good mood, People therefore often regret decisions made in an emotional state. Your mood during the day is heavily influenced by the quality of your sleep. Many people have trouble falling asleep or waking up and start the day in a bad way because of this.
I designed a  speaker (concept) that will improve the quality of your sleep by playing the right music a the right moment. The speaker is controlled by an AI that is able to recognize what mood you are in with a combination of brainwaves and heartbeat data. Currently, your brainwaves can be measured by an EEG headset that measures the electrical activity of your brain. The brainwaves are measured in cycles per second or hertz. Different waves occur at different times, based on what you’re doing and how you’re feeling. A lot of people already measure their heartbeat (during their sleep) with the help of a smartwatch. These devices are getting smaller and eventually, you can put these devices can be intergraded into the speaker instead of wearing them.
The speaker will monitor your mood before and during your sleep. Before you go to sleep it will play calming music without too many changes in volume and tempo, this music lowers your heartbeat making it easier for your body and mind to relax. Starting to sleep with a lower heartbeat will raise your heartbeat in the morning this way your body shows that it is ready to wake up. The music that the speaker plays differs every day, this is determined by the data about your mood and your music taste.
The speaker will continue to monitor your mood during your sleep, before you wake up it will already know what mood you will wake up in and select a song that fits your current mood. This way you wake up in a much more pleasant way than waking up to the song you chose as your alarm clock last evening or even a few weeks ago.
The design of the speaker is based on natural patterns. I made a unique asymmetrical 3D printed shape with green fabric inside. The speaker will be connected to your phone. No buttons are needed to control the speaker because it will control itself.
